TFN Declassified: Stan Bush Concert Information
Hey TFNationals, Billy here (again!)
I've recently provided an update on the Clubcon segment of our Saturday evening programme - go check it out! I'm back now with part two, which deals with the Stan Bush concert; please allow me to steal a few more minutes of your time, to give you some important information on the big event!
STAN BUSH LIVE CONCERT
We are really excited to be the first UK Transformers convention to be able to bring a Stan Bush concert to its attendees! The concert will take place about an hour after Clubcon closes, in the same room (The Kings Suite)
You need a separate concert ticket to attend this extra event; at the time of writing they are very close to selling out. They will definitely not be on sale at the convention. So if you're on the fence, now really is your last chance to opt in.
Please be aware that this will be a standing concert. Whilst there will be some seating available, this will be a small allocation which will be offered to people with special health requirements. Please do contact us if you feel this applies to you. Whilst we are unable to offer reserved seating, we will do our best to ensure you are well looked after.
As you can probably imagine, the concert has proven to be very popular. That being the case, the crew will need to ask for your help when you are entering and exiting the room. You will be asked to use specific doors, and to queue in certain ways which may be different to your past experience with this venue - please allow us to point you in the right direction.
ROOM TRANSFORMATION
As mentioned in my recent Clubcon notification, we need to fully empty the hall after Clubcon ends, to give us time to transform it for the concert. It's a really big job because we're going to need to clear hundreds of chairs, dismantle a stage, convince Soundwave to work late and make sure all the lights are pretty. The sooner we get you all out safely, the sooner we can get moving! So when asked, please exit in a safe, orderly manner.
CONCERT QUESTIONS
The thought of going to a busy concert can be a little intimidating, particularly to people who suffer from anxiety. Even moreso if this is your first concert. With that in mind, I want to take a moment to share the answers to some commonly asked questions, which will hopefully help to make you feel a bit more confident about the event.
Q) "Can we queue for the concert as soon as Clubcon ends?"
A) My answer is - yes, that's not a problem; but it's only going to benefit you if you want to be among the very first people to enter the concert hall. Stan won't start until everybody is in safely, so there is no rush. Personally, I'd use that hour to grab a drink, or freshen up. But that's totally your call.
Q) I'll have bags full of toys with me - can I bring them into the concert?
A) Nope - trust me, that would be a bad idea; we don't want anybody falling over your Trypticon (fall...trip... I liked it). Ideally you should put all your bags in your room, or in a friend's room. We will hopefully be able to arrange a cloakroom facility with the hotel, but personally I would use that as your last resort because checking items in and out will eat into your time.
Q) I've never attended a concert - what should I expect / do you have any advice for me?
A) This is another question which has come up a lot. I won't pretend I can give a fully comprehensive run down here, but, here are some important points;
- This is a live event which will make use of loud music, flashing lights and haze effects. If you are sensitive to any of these elements, then please do exercise your discretion here. If you feel unwell, please let us know.
- Keep hydrated. Whilst you won't be in there all night, you'll still be stood for a good chunk of time. Drink plenty of water.
- If you are anxious about busy rooms, then a great tip is to stand near to either the side walls, or the back of the room, as these areas tend to be less busy. (Front centre tends to be the busiest area at concerts). It's an intimate venue, meaning views will be largely similar wherever you decide to stand, so taking a step back shouldn't hurt your experience.
- If you are attending with a friend, a good tip is decide upon a meeting point in case you get separated. Example: "I'm going to the bar / bathroom, if I'm not back in 10 minutes let's meet up near the big door on the right". This can really help to ease your anxiety, as you won't have to rely on trying to call or text your friend whilst there is loud music playing.
- If you are staying at a different hotel, then it is a good idea to have your route back planned before the concert starts. Are you taking the Hilton courtesy bus to the airport? Can you cab share with a friend? Planning this in advance won't take long, and will make you feel much calmer on the day.
- More than anything else, just remember we will be there looking after you. We have crew members with a lot of experience in this type of event situation. If you have any issues, just give us a wave and we'll zip right over.
